The Porsche 911 GT3 RS
If your a track fan and like the 911 GT3, you will simply love the 911 GT3 RS. There have been several major modifications over the GT3 that absolutely set theses two cars apart. Some of the modifications made to the 911 GT3 RS were altering bodywork. Compared to the GT3, the rear of the RS is 1.7 inches wider, as it is based on the fuller-bodied 911 Carrera 4 models. The muscular-looking rear end conceals a wider track that not only improves directional stability, but also increases the potential for lateral grip on this two-seat coupe. In my personal opinion, the wider the Porsche the better!
Given the wider body, the Porsche GT3 RS is still lighter than the Porsche GT3. Porsche was able to lighten the load by modifying several components. The extremely light carbon fiber adjustable rear wing along with the carbon fiber front lip reduced the weight. Modifications on the GT3 RS geared specifically toward race-regulations include the rear wheel carrier, split rear-suspension wishbones, and the carbon-fiber components. The overall weight was reduced to 3010 lbs (1375 kg). Considerably light given the power and performance of such an automobile.
The GT3 RS’s power remains the same as the GT3’s 3.6-liter flat-Six, with the highly-tuned Boxer engine generating 415 horsepower at 7,600 rpm, on the way to an 8,400 rpm redline. Some additional power would have been an added bonus, although the power is a nice match to the GT3 RS’s overall performance. Running 0-60 in 4.0 seconds with a top speed of 193 mph (310 km/h). Painting the 19 inch alloy wheels were a nice touch. Porsche wrapped the fronts with 235/35 ZR 19 and 305/30 ZR 19 on the rear.
The GT3 RS is available in two standard finishes: Black or Arctic Silver metallic. As an option, the GT3 can also be decked out in brilliant orange or green paintwork. All vehicle insignia and the wheels themselves are styled in orange or black to contrast with the body color. The 911 GT3 RS’s interior lives up to the vehicle’s race-derived styling. Internal trim is black, with the roof lining, steering wheel and gear stick trimmed in high-quality Alcantara leather.
