US pricing for 2009 Cayenne

Porsche Cars North America has announced the prices of its 2009 Cayenne models, which will go on sale in the US, on July 14, 2008. Cayenne Turbo S is priced at $123,600, while the Cayenne Turbo is priced at $97,700. Cayenne variants are priced at $44,600 for the base model, $59,400 for the S model, and $ $70,900 for the GTS model. Compared with the current model year, prices for 2009 have been increased between 2.3% and 4.3%. The company claims that new features, including advanced audio and communication systems, more powerful brakes on the Turbo models (more…)

Lewis Hamilton’s father crashes

Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton might be skilled at handling fast cars, but his father could certainly do with a few driving lessons after crashing his Porsche into a children’s playground. Anthony Hamilton was just 200 metres from his home in Tewin, Hertfordshire, when he lost control of the £330,000 vehicle and ploughed across a grass verge, leaving deep tire tracks, before crashing through a hedge. The accident left the silver Porsche Carrera GT with a broken rear light and two large cracks in the body work below it. To make matters worse the car does not even belong to Mr Hamilton, he was merely borrowing it for the day. He refused to reveal the identity of its owner. (more…)

Transsyberia Rallye 2008

Between Moscow and Ulaanbaatar they will compete against each other, but prior to the start of the 2008 Transsyberia Rally, they all pull together: In a joint intensive training from 20 to 22 May, the 19 teams - who place their trust in the Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia – undergo preparations for the famed long distance rally in July. Aside from extensive offroad driving practice, participants also learn how to handle the navigation system down pat. 2009 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid

Two years ago at the Frankfurt auto show, Porsche announced it had begun work on a hybrid Cayenne program, but the company has remained quiet since then, except to tell us it has remained partnered with VW on the SUV’s development. Carrera 4S: Best Everyday 911?

When going through the list of Porsche 911’s, one has many options to choose from, especially if your in the market for a daily driver and not a track ready Porsche such as the 911 GT2 or 911 GT3. Although both of the latter 911’s are excellent city cars, I doubt many owners drive them five days a week. Being a loyal lover of the Cayenne family, particularly the turbo model. I was extremely excited to hear about the release of the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. Just when I thought the Cayenne turbo couldn’t get any better, Porsche raises the bar again. The 4.8 liter V-8 twin turbo charged engine cranks out a whopping 550 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque.
