Carrera White 997 GT3

As the GT3 pulled into the parking lot accompanied by a white 997 turbo, what caught my eye first was the overall beauty of the esthetics’s. The dual centered exhaust looks absolutely incredible, perfectly balanced and symmetrical with the overall feel of the new GT3. The front and rear bumpers add some subtle yet aggressive styling. The very large but functional double deck rear spoiler amazingly somehow flows with Porsche’s design. Living in Vancouver, BC what I first noticed about the two 997’s where California plates. As conversation continued I found out the owners had made a very recent trip down to Southern California to purchase their exotic beauties. I can only imagine the 24 hours of fun they had travelling back home!

porsche-997-911-gt3-1600x1200-8.jpgThe 997 GT3 is Porsche’s most powerful naturally aspirated 911 ever. Horsepower is 415, or 115.3 horses per liter, the world’s best specific output for a non-turbo/supercharged engine, according to Porsche. The 3.6-liter flat six revs to 8400 rpm, with the peak horsepower coming in at 7600 rpm. To say this car is balanced as well as fast is an understatement. The owner was particularly pleased with the everyday day-to-day driving given the race ready modifications to the car. Porsche seems to have struct a balance in this area compared it’s 996 predecessor.

A 3-spoke steering wheel with a slightly padded Alcantara rim really offsets the look and feel from the turbo’s steering wheel. The same Alcantara lining can be found on the shift knob and door panelling. The overall interior feel is nice but, lets not forget what this car was built for.
